What is the age limit for Trek?
Trek is for youth 14-18, including those who will turn 14 by December 31, 2023.
What will the bathroom situation be?
Port-a-potties will be plentiful and available along the trail at break times throughout the day, as well as at night. There will be an adequate number of facilities at base camp and throughout the trek.
Do I have to wear Pioneer Clothes?
Yes. We hope to make the trek experience as authentic as possible. Dressing in pioneer clothing greatly enriches the experience and helps to unify everyone. For more clothing and hints and tips, be sure to check out our Clothing page.
What can I expect a day of Trek to be like?
Youth
will be organized into trek families of around 8-10 "brothers and
sisters" with a married couple serving as their Ma and Pa. Ma’s and Pa’s
were carefully selected by the Bishops of each ward and will lead your Trek
“family.” Each family will have their own handcart to pull together. Although
we will be arranged in families, we will be trekking together and all members
of the stake will be in close proximity to each other throughout the event.
Each day we will trek between 4-6 miles. Trekking will be interspersed with
breaks and activities that will help us feel connected to our pioneer heritage,
to Heavenly Father and to each other. In the evenings there will be
presentations, firesides, music, games and dancing, family bonding time and
discussions, as well as eating together.

Dynamics: Remember all families do not need to be the same.
Each family will have its own personality and will develop at its own pace. Take opportunities throughout the Trek experience to understand the thoughts, feelings, and personalities of each individual member or your Trek family. Make efforts to get to know them better. Take opportunities to share your feelings and personalities with them individually and collectively.
Will there be showers?
No. A great alternative would be to bring a small package of wet wipes to freshen up with.
What will we be eating?
-While
our ancestors might have been accustomed to living on Johnny Cake, we know that
you are not! Meals and snacks will
consist of modern food that you are familiar with eating on a regular basis,
and no one will need to worry about not having enough to eat. You may decide
it’s one of the best parts about Trek! We want you to be well fed and have
plenty of energy for the day’s activities!
Individuals who have special dietary requirements will be accommodated if they alert us to their needs. Please use your registration form to make your dietary restrictions known.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
We
will be sleeping in tents or under the stars in family groups, divided by
gender.
Who are the adult leaders attending Trek?
Members of the Stake Presidency, as well as many bishops and their wives will be there for the entirety of Trek. A variety of other adults from wards throughout the Stake will also be in attendance and supporting. We will have professionally trained medical staff trekking alongside our youth, and available to assist at all times.
What is transportation like?
All youth, along with their Ma and Pa will travel to and from the Trek location via chartered buses. Our transportation coordinators will help to arrange for this transportation.
Will there be Trek activities leading up to Trek?

Will we meet our Ma’s and Pa’s and Trek families before Trek?
Yes, there will be planned activities for you to meet and get acquainted with the members of your family. Please make every effort to attend so everyone can equally benefit as a unit.
What is the cost of Trek?
The cost for each youth participant is $50.00. The other expenses are covered by the Stake and Wards. There is no cost for adult leaders attending Trek.
Will the youth leaders from each ward be attending Trek?
Due to the large number of youth in our stake, unfortunately there are a limited number of individuals that can go on Trek. For this reason, only the adults that have received a specific call or invitation from the Stake will be going on Trek.
I haven’t registered for Trek, am I too late?
The deadline to register for Trek is March
5th. If the deadline has passed, please talk with your Bishop or the Trek
Directors (found on the home page) to get registered as we want everyone to
have an opportunity to come.
